Here’s a big one! Artificial colors are everywhere, from candy to yogurt, cereal, and sport drinks, even vitamins and medications.

What are they? They are a petroleum by-product that changes or enhances the color of food to make it more appealing.

Consumption of artificial food dye has increased by 500% over the last 50 years And guess who consumes the most? Children.

The problem with artificial food coloring is that they have been linked to cancer, ADD/ADHD, hyperactivity, rashes, asthma, and tumors. I remember when my brother was around four, he was very sensitive to red food coloring. He would become hyper after consuming and my mom very easily deduced that it was the food dye.

Natural food coloring is a great alternative because the use fruits, vegetables, and spices.

So watch your food labels and look for products with natural food coloring.
